My Designs
People always have an influence in your life! My son Brett initially introduced me to web design and started a journey that continues today.
Melrose Art Photography. WordPress CMS design. The photography in this website is stunning. You can order your own images printed on canvas. You will swear that you are looking at a painting when the canvas is on your wall. Terrific for business and home owners.
DVD Ron Portfolio. Flash design and I just love it as does the client. Listen to the music “Nice Day for a White Wedding” while you enjoy the introductory images. Then go to the portfolio page and see what is possible using flash. The client would also like your business as well.
Bellavista Bed and Breakfast Mandurah. HTML design. I really enjoyed building this site. The images are fantastic and provide more information than the tourist visitors centre in the Mandurah area. The site uses a lot of javascript lightbox images and for the first time, a google map is introduced in the contact page.
Shindig Music. WordPress CMS design. This is a real “pop” group with all its members over the age of 50 and some approaching 60 but what a group. They are the only group to pay 50s and 60s music in Perth and they will do it on demand at their gigs. Log on and register as a supporter.
Singleton Residents Association. WordPress CMS design. I am now working exclusively with wordpress designs because I love their flexibility as it means the client can do a lot more to the site once it is built. I really love this design for a community organisation called the “Singleton Residents Association” (SRA). I live in Singleton and administer the website on behalf of the SRA.
Lions Dryandra Village. WordPress CMS design. I love the work they do and wanted to make my own contribution to them.
Exchange Hotel Greenbushes. WordPress CMS design. I love old country hotels and that particular one is located in Greenbushes, Western Australia. I once visited the hotel as a younger man and stayed there. The hotel has not lost any of its charm and is now owned by Julian Bingham who is committed to restoring the hotel to its former glory.
The Country Escape. HTML design. This is a bit different from the bed and breakfast design as it seeks to illustrate the benefits of apartment style accommodation especially for a family or two couples. Guests are provided with information on what to see and do through images provided by the business owner. In essence guests can have a virtual tour, something that visitor’s centres are not doing and should be.
Talespinner. WordPress CMS design. This is something I have always wanted to do and the opportunity came up recently. I used a wordpress template which is supported by a MySQL database in the back end. The site administrator (client) is able to choose from a number of themes and can vary the blog website as required.
Arboreal Tree Care. HTML design. Ever wondered where to go to get information about the care and growth of trees in WA? This is the place. It is packed full of information and the business owner is a walking encyclopedia of information. If you want to know what to do about those troublesome trees, phone Wayne Goring and you will be recommending his website to others just for the guidance it provides.
Mandurah Leadlights and Stained Glass. HTML design. The client wanted the banners to reflect leadlight designs and the result is a kaleidoscope of colours and texture. The site includes the use of css and javascript that allows the viewer time to look at the body of work by this client which is very extensive. This is what the client said, “I was very pleased when I saw the results of this website. For once, someone listened to what I wanted, an uncluttered image which can be controlled by my clients. They can spend as long as they like looking closely, glance quickly, before going on to another page. It gives all the information my clients need in an informal, but succinct manner.”
Catalano Truck and Equipment. HTML design. I was asked to design a website for a truck and equipment company. Found just the right template and the colours matched perfectly with the company logo. Used rotating banners and lightbox.
Visual Eyes Optical Centre. HTML design. I needed to have another design as part of my portfolio. The result is the Visual Eyes Optical Centre, a very successful business operating from two locations in Westminster and Dianella in Western Australia. The building of this site is also technically difficult and includes the use of javascript, php, flash and for the first time (in my experience) an accordion vertical navigation bar. The site also uses an appointment booking form that is sent using php, protecting the information and the email address from spammers.
A Village in India. HTML design. For many years I have sought to write a story about my family and where they came from. I initially thought about writing a book but decided against it owing to cost and the difficulty in getting it printed. I thought about a website but moved away from that option as well. Recently, the idea for a website became a reality and I started this enormous task of collecting and recording information about my extensive family. The site is a work in progress and is not expected to be fully operational for 1-2 years. In the interim, the site continues to be updated as I continue to contact, visit and persuade members of my family to share their story with me and to give me access to their photographs. I have called the site “A Village in India” which is the place I lived in as a boy until 1963. The village is called Pallavaram, near Madras (now called Chennai) in South India.
